DGKH: Long-term prevention with HOCl

A wide variety of measures must be used to prevent diseases, including especially the protection of highly exposed persons, such as medical staff in hospitals. More and more studies are being conducted on this topic. Now the German Society for Hospital Hygiene has also commented on the effectiveness of hypertonic saline solution in nasal and throat rinses. The research of the Brandenburg-based start-up oji is also pursuing this approach and is achieving the best results in the use of hypochlorous acid indoors, as recently conducted field tests underline.

"Gargling with hypertonic saline solution (2% - 3%) 3 times/d significantly shortened the duration of illness in viral influenza, with the reduction in viral shedding reducing the frequency of illness by 35% even in people living in the household."
